Thursday, February 11, 2021 2:00 PM Time Zone (ET) - 3:00 PM Time Zone (ET)
Virtual Academy

ONCAC’s 2021 Online Leadership and Learning Academy will help build connections within our networks, orient new leaders to the CAC movement, and instill strong, supportive, empowering leadership models throughout the network. This project is based upon membership feedback to provide structure and support to new CAC leaders. One of ONCAC’s stated goals is to provide networking opportunities for membership, thus by providing comprehensive, structured leadership training and support, our chapter seeks to reduce turnover and burnout among all CAC staff. By incorporating new management training styles and modalities, based upon restorative justice tactics and other forms of nonviolent communication, our chapter wishes to create safer and more healthy working environments for all CAC staff.

Four 2-hour web retreats will be held throughout the year led by a consultant who is an expert on the intended topic.

Monthly supplemental 1-hour web meetings will be coordinated between retreats led by chapter staff and combine group conversation with “homework” i.e.: review of reading material, review of worksheets, coaching on use of new skills.

ONCAC Trauma Informed Care: Theory to Practice Foundational Training
Wednesday, March 17, 2021 - Thursday, March 18, 2021 - All Day
Virtual Training
  •

2 CEUs per day

Trauma is now recognized as a near universal experience of individuals with behavioral health issues often resulting in a complex array of social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.  Through understanding of the latest trauma research and careful translation into practice, we can help trauma survivors experience healing, resiliency, and hope.  This training coordinates trauma informed care into a framework that can be used by anyone working with victims of trauma.  It includes the three stages of positive trauma resolution (re-experience, release, and re-organize) and the five resilience factors found in people who move beyond their traumatic experiences.  Trauma’s effect on brain chemistry, development, and relationships are explored, and since trauma is processed and stored in nonverbal parts of the brain, expressive, relational, and sensory based will be identified to benefit clients of all ages and ability levels.  Service plan goals and objectives will also be presented to assist in bringing this treatment to your current work.

This training session is presented in partnership with Ohio Department of Youth Services and is offered free of charge to ONCAC member center staff.
